Sexual assault is a crime that knows no boundaries; not race, age, gender, income level, or demographics. It has been conservatively estimated that there are 207,754 sexual assaults in the United States each year with approximately 54% never reported to the police. The Rape, Abuse, Incest National Network (RAINN), reports that 44% of victims are under the age of 18 years and 80% of victims are under 30 years of age. The FNE Program serves 100 – 200 patients per month with approximately 20% of these victims youth under the age of 18 years. The Forensic Nurse Examiner program provides personalized comprehensive care to patients who are victims of interpersonal violence, such as sexual assault, domestic violence, child abuse and elder abuse.
